Intensive Care Unit

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) & Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Our Intensive Care Unit is designed for special patients who require intensive nursing care and complex medical equipment, including cardiac monitors or ventilators. These patients are here under orders from their physicians, and cared for by some of the most highly trained nursing specialists at SCH.

The Progressive Care Unit has critical-care beds where monitoring equipment for ambulatory patients enables recovering patients to enjoy more freedom of movement. While sensitive to changes in cardiac rhythms, the telemetry and other equipment is less cumbersome and confining, permitting free-ranging activities, like walking, that encourage rapid recovery.
