Hospitalist Program
Southside Community Hospital’s new 24ON Physician Hospitalist Program
is an Inpatient Service provided by the Hospital to benefit Primary
Care Physicians and the patients of our community. Hospitalists are
doctors who manage the hospital treatment of inpatients. The
Hospitalist works closely with the patient’s existing Primary Care
Physician to ensure that the patient receives the best care while they
are at Southside Community Hospital. Hospitalists meet the needs of
their patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Serving as patient
advocates, they coordinate all of a patient’s care including tests and
consultations. Much of a Hospitalist's job revolves around
communication – with patients, families, hospital staff, and
doctors. Primary care doctors are kept informed of treatment plans, options and progress, usually on a daily basis.
All Physicians providing services through the SCH Hospitalist Program are board certified or board eligible Internal Medicine Physicians; they have been credentialed through the Medical Staff Office and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Board to provide services independently at Southside Community Hospital.
