BIRTH CENTER OPENS IN FEBRUARY 2007
NOW OPEN---THE NEW BIRTH CENTER AT SCH!
The New Birth Center at Southside Community Hospital
Southside Community Hospital's new Birth Center features five private labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms. All rooms are tastefully decorated in a home-like decorum. If spending the night with the new mom, family members will have access to new, comfortable furniture. Each room's private bathroom will include extended-size showers and tubs. Flat screen TV’s, DVD players, and wireless capabilities are also available in each room.
In addition, there is a nourishment station for patient use and a multi-purpose room which will provide space for education and teaching. Birthing classes will continue to be provided by a certified midwife. Newborn care classes are also available.
“We are very excited about moving to our new department”, says Jovita Barton, RN and Nurse Director of Obstetrics. “We have strived to make this the most comfortable, safe, and caring place to deliver a baby.”
Couplet care will be provided (mother-baby care), and family members are encouraged to stay with the new mom during this special time. The staff is experienced in coordinating the birthing process and providing high tech, compassionate care for mothers and their babies.
